Foot Gait Scan & Orthotics

Using our GaitScan system along with practitioner testing in our clinic we can give you an in-depth review of how your foot is working for you and educate you on how this may be contributing to pain anywhere from your lower back down through your legs and your feet.

Using TOG Client Software, an innovative diagnostic tool and digital casting device, this allows us to analyze patient biomechanics. Whether if its out of curiosity for your own knowledge or to order custom orthotics where needed you will receive a detailed report on the intricate details of how your foot strikes the ground. With 4096 sensors and a scan rate of 300Hz (frames per second), GaitScan is the industry leader in dynamic scanning capability.

What to expect during your Gait Scan test

Your gait scan test will include a consultation with one of our therapists with simple physical tests and observations performed as necessary beforehand. Then, using our GaitScan pressure plate, we will capture static (standing in place) scans of your feet and dynamic (walking over the pressure plate) scans which will give a detailed report linked to software in our computer to which we can relay to you in real time as well as as giving you a detailed report for your own records.

Gait Scan Consultation and Test (approx. 30mins)  €60.00

(does not include cost of orthotics where necessary)

Custom Orthotics

What are custom orthotics?

Custom orthotics are insoles that have been manufactured specifically for you in order to control
the velocity with which your foot strikes the ground, support the midfoot and promote normal
gait.

How do they help?

Custom orthotics control the speed your foot hits the ground and helps absorb the forces at
impact, thereby reducing stress on the heel and plantar fascia. They support the arch of the foot
to prevent it from flattening and stretching when standing and help the foot to stay in normal
alignment, reducing rotation through the knees, hips and lower back.

What should I do?

Talk with your practitioner about the symptoms you are experiencing. After a physical
examination and gait analysis, we will be able to discuss whether an orthotic would help
alleviate your symptoms and recommend the most appropriate device for your needs.

How do I know if I need a custom orthotic?

Below are a number of conditions that are often treated with orthotic prescription.

Heel Pain

Arch Pain

Bunions

Toe Pain

Knee Pain

Hip Pain

Low Back Pain

A gait scan test will give a definitive accurate answer in whether you may or may not benefit from orthotics and we will only ever prescribe orthotics to those who we feel may benefit from them.
